WHAT IS A BIOKINETICiST?
A Biokineticist is an allied healthcare professional specialising in rehabilitation and the development of individualised optimal performance. Aligned with health and medical practitioners, Biokineticists utilise clinical exercise prescription to aid in the restoration of musculoskeletal injuries and the management of chronic, neurological, and respiratory conditions.
Biokineticists work in conjunction with other healthcare professionals to guide patients through all phases of rehabilitation and disease management, providing comprehensive and holistic treatment to their patients.
WHAT WE DO
Through clinical assessment and scientific exercise prescription, a Biokineticist facilitates in improving individual performance and injury/disease management. Clinical assessments include a written and physical component. The assessment begins with a comprehensive written evaluation to collect the patient’s medical history. Additional areas of assessment may include an evaluation of posture, body composition, blood pressure, blood glucose levels, blood cholesterol levels, lung function, heart rate, fitness, muscular strength, endurance, power, flexibility, and other health screenings.
The patient’s initial assessment results are evaluated and measured under global health and wellness assessment criteria. Clinical exercise prescription is used to generate a comprehensive treatment program, tailored to the patient’s unique results. Biokinetic practitioners provide guidance and assistance to patients through each phase of rehabilitation.
Reassessment measures are used to assess the program’s effectiveness and patient’s progress.
Treatment is concluded when patient’s results fall within the desired range to achieve their personal goal.
